For more than 15 years, our partnership managed mobility activities for VET learners. Our experience with over 1,500 participants showcased a positive impact on their personal development, as their mobility influenced their engagement in society as active citizens as well as their social, civic, and democratic participation. The EU aimed to deliver the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and combat Climate Change, as well as promote European education systems that could support these aims. From a lifelong learning perspective, green skills needed to be mainstreamed and incorporated into the formal development of soft skills in VET.
With our project, we offered innovative digital tools to make the SDGs an attractive standard for young people before, during, and after a mobility. We considered the topic of Green ERASMUS as a holistic approach—from green travel to the workplace to accommodation. With the project results, we presented the SDGs in an attractive way as a self-evident code of conduct in VET mobilities. VET learners were the future professionals and citizens of Europe, and our motivation was to sensitise them to think and act in accordance with the SDGs in daily life. We only had one planet—so we had to take care of it!
